Bring your school group to York for a fun and fact-filled Crime and Punishment walking tour aimed specifically at your school group and their topic.
Crime and Punishment Tour: Explore the parts of York associated with the most desperate criminals. Find out what happened to Guy Fawkes, Margaret Clitherow, Dick Turpin, and others. Hear about some horrid punishments and consider some tough questions about fairness and justice! Includes: Clifford’s Tower; Georgian gaol buildings, The Shambles, Dick Turpin’s Grave.
Distance 2.65km (approx. 1.65 miles)
Begins at Clifford’s Tower and finishes outside York Minster. Led by Chris Geeson – tour guide, museums’ learning facilitator, and workshop leader. All tours are aimed at KS2 or KS3 but can be adapted. Group sizes should be up to around 30 pupils, plus accompanying adults (ratio of 1 adult to 8 children). Youth groups and home school groups also welcome.
