Description

Hike Mount Gahinga, the smallest of the Virunga Volcanoes, on a guided trek from Kigali. Spot wildlife, enjoy breathtaking views, and discover a unique swamp at the summit.
Begin your adventure with a pickup from your hotel in Kigali. Drive for 3 hours to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters in Kinigi. Register and receive a briefing about the hike and what to expect.

Meet your park rangers and guides and start your hike. Walk through bamboo forests and keep an eye out for mountain gorillas, golden monkeys, elephants, and bushbucks. Enjoy breathtaking views of the other Virunga Volcanoes from a distance.

Hike for 6-8 hours, ascending to the stunning peak. Upon arrival at the swamp-dominated peak, take photos and enjoy your packed lunch or snacks. Rest for some time before preparing to descend to the base of the mountain.

Later, descend the volcano via the ladders back to the park headquarters and drive to Kigali or your lodge.
