Embark on a 3-day adventure from Kigali to Nyungwe National Park and Lake Kivu. Discover the natural beauty of the area, including the Nyungwe National Park, Lake Kivu, and the surrounding towns of Karongi and Kigali.

Day 1: Kigali to Nyungwe National Park
Begin your tour early in the morning, leaving Kigali at 6:00 AM for a scenic drive to Nyungwe National Park. The journey takes 5-6 hours but offers plenty to see along the way. Upon arrival at Nyungwe National Park, embark on the exhilarating Canopy Walk, a 90-meter-long suspended bridge towering 70 meters above the forest floor. This activity offers breathtaking views of the lush rainforest and a chance to spot unique birds and primates. Conclude the day with dinner and relaxation at your lodge, surrounded by the serene sounds of the jungle.

Day 2: Primates and Transition to Lake Kivu (Karongi)
Start your day at dawn, setting out on a Chimpanzee Trek in Nyungwe's Cyamudongo Forest. Led by expert guides, this thrilling experience allows you to observe chimpanzees in their natural habitat, as well as other primates and rare bird species. For those seeking an alternative activity, consider a guided Nature Hike through trails like the Igishigishigi Trail, which offers incredible biodiversity and panoramic views.

After trekking, depart for Karongi, a peaceful lakeside town on Lake Kivu. Along the way, admire the scenic beauty of tea plantations, rolling hills, and glimpses of the lake.

In the afternoon, unwind with a boat ride to Amahoro Island, nicknamed the "Island of Peace." Enjoy its serene environment, perfect for birdwatching, swimming, or evening fishing. Alternatively, visit Napoleon Island, known for its fascinating bat colonies and breathtaking views. Return to Karongi for a fresh lakeside dinner featuring locally sourced tilapia as the sun sets over the water.

Day 3: Hiking and Cultural Discovery in Karongi, Return to Kigali
After breakfast, set out to explore Napoleon Island further, taking a guided hike to its peak for panoramic views of Lake Kivu. You’ll also visit Monkey Island, home to playful primates in a lush natural setting. For those who prefer water-based activities, kayaking or a relaxing swim in the lake’s pristine waters is an excellent choice.

Before leaving Karongi, immerse yourself in the local culture by visiting a nearby coffee cooperative. Learn about the process of growing, harvesting, and roasting Rwanda’s premium coffee. Alternatively, visit the Peace Museum, a reflective space dedicated to promoting reconciliation and peacebuilding in the region.

Enjoy lunch at a scenic restaurant in Karongi, and then embark on the 3.5-hour drive back to Kigali. Arrive in the early evening, bringing your incredible Nyungwe and Lake Kivu adventure to a close.
