Country: Rwanda

Duration: 1 days

Description

Trek through misty volcanoes to encounter gorillas and golden monkeys in their natural habitat, then connect with local life on a cultural community for a complete Rwandan experience.
Your adventure begins with pickup from your hotel or Kigali International Airport. Enjoy a scenic 2.5-hour drive through rolling hills and rural landscapes to Musanze, the gateway to Volcanoes National Park. After checking into your lodge, relax and prepare for the next day’s gorilla trekking.

On Day 1, you will head to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters in Kinigi for a briefing. Then start your guided trek through misty rainforest to meet a family of mountain gorillas. Spend up to one magical hour observing their interactions, feeding, and playful young ones before trekking back and returning to your lodge.

Day 2 begins with breakfast and a return to Kinigi for the Golden Monkey trek. Hike through bamboo forests to watch these lively, endangered primates leap through the trees. In the afternoon, take part in a community walk where you will visit traditional homes, interact with local villagers, learn about Rwandan culture, music, farming practices, and see how ecotourism supports conservation and livelihoods.

On the final day, enjoy breakfast at the lodge, check out, and drive back to Kigali. Optional stops can be made at local markets, souvenir shops, or the Kigali Genocide Memorial (on request). You’ll be dropped off at your hotel or the airport — marking the end of your memorable journey.
