Description

Indigenous Tour of El Salvador: A cultural journey to the Nahua-Pipil roots, where traditions and religiosity exhibit a unique syncretism. Izalco, Nahuizalco, and Santo Domingo de Guzmán
Visit Izalco, known as “Itzalku,” and discover the legacy of our Indigenous ancestors, who left behind a rich cultural and religious heritage where myths, legends, and traditions are still very much alive. We will visit the Indigenous and Ladino parishes, the ruins of the old church, and the El Llanito Memorial Park, which commemorates the Indigenous massacre of 1932.

Nahuizalco showcases its Indigenous heritage through its people, culture, cuisine, and its market offering fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as handicrafts made from natural fibers such as wicker and tule. The Nahuizalco Museum displays items that tell the story of the history and traditions of the Nahua-Pipil people.

Visit Santo Domingo de Guzmán, considered the cradle of Nahuatl, the town with the largest Nahuatl-speaking population in the country. You will also visit craft workshops and take a short hike to the El Escuco Waterfall, which in Nahuatl means “Falling Water.” At a height of 80 meters (262 feet), you can take a dip in its refreshing waters.
