Description
A city tour around Langstrasse: authentic, multicultural, cosmopolitan – a vibrant neighborhood with a turbulent past and a lively present.
The infamous District 4 around Langstrasse has a short but extremely turbulent history. The district captivates with its authenticity, multicultural diversity, and cosmopolitan spirit. What was once considered a dumping ground for immigrants and drug addicts has transformed into a vibrant, highly contrasting neighborhood.
The red-light district still shapes places like the “Bermuda Triangle,” and in the countless bars and clubs in the alleys around Langstrasse, you can still feel the wild spirit of times gone by.
It is precisely this contrast that galleries, architectural firms, creative designers, and restaurants are leveraging to unleash their creativity in the “Chreis Cheib.” The term “Cheib” derives from the word for animal carcasses – a reference to the pits that once existed here. These pits have long since disappeared, but the name has endured and remains a hallmark of the district to this day.
