Discover the wildlife and culture of Zululand on a 3-day tour from St Lucia. A guided walk through the KwaSmolo Community, visit Dumazulu Traditional Village as well as two world renowned game parks.
Spend 3 full days and 3 magical nights in the heart of Zululand. Stay in the beautiful coastal village of St Lucia in a 4-star accommodation which includes breakfast. Perfectly situated, not only within walking distance from the main road, all the shops and restaurants through the centre of town, but allows for easy access to two of South Africa's most amazing wildlife parks and a wealth of Zulu cultural and traditional history.
Your arrival day is planned once you've notified us of your arrival time in St Lucia. Your guide will be on hand to meet you at a Barraca Restaurant place to introduce himself and give you a brief overview of what lies ahead. While you begin your adventure with a tranquil afternoon sunset cruise on the St Lucia Estuary, your guide will take care of your luggage and check-in. Returning to pick you up from Sunset Jetty and drop you at your accommodation. Marvel at the hippos wandering down the main street at night in search of grazing as you enjoy dinner. During the day, spot bushbuck, vervet monkeys, mongoose, and warthogs walking around without a care in the world, not to mention the abundant birdlife.
The list of activities and itinerary will be planned and finalized after you've booked, but herein are all the fascinating places and activities you'll exparience. In no set order yet you will visit Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park, the oldest game reserve in Africa, about an hour's drive west of St Lucia through rural villages and communities. St Lucia is the gateway to the Eastern Shores section of iSimangaliso Wetland Park, South Africa's first declared UNESCO World Heritage Site for Nature, accessed directly from St Lucia.
Take a guided walking tour to the KwaSmolo Community bordering Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park. Experience modern day-to-day living in rural Zululand. Visit the Sangoma (Healer), the Shembe Temple, a primary school, and the local "Spaza" where locals buy their daily essentials. Enjoy a traditional "Shisanyama" or barbecue afterwards while enjoying the traditional Zulu dancers.
Step back in time at Dumazulu Traditional Village where insights are shared about Zulu life in a bygone age. All along your travels you will see just how immersed in the wild you are. The entire area is truly a wildlife wonderland and you experience so much of wherever you go - nature is all around you all the time!

Entering the village of St Lucia, you turn right through through a very small "round-about" onto McKenzie Street. As you drive up Mckenzie Street and you look far ahead up the street, you will see the tiered, bright orange signage of Barraca Restaurant on your left hand side. You'll pass an Engen Fuel Station, Spar Supermarket all on your left and as you are nearing Spar you should see Barraca Restaurant on your left! Staff are always at the fornt of the open veranda to welcome guests...Your Guide, Sifiso, will be right there in his khaki Bushbaby Safaris Zululand shirt!

When should I book?
To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.
Cancellations
This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
