Learn about the DOca, the grapes, and the different styles of Rioja, from traditional to modern in a wine-tasting masterclass. Listen to an introduction of the Rioja wine and region from your sommelier. Taste 5 premium wines paired with 5 local kinds of cheese.
First, meet your sommelier and fellow classmates in an intimate wine bar setting. Get to know a bit about the Rioja wines with a brief introduction from your instructor, then get into the tastings.
Begin with vino blanco, a white wine from the Rioja DOCa wine region. Then, move on to the vino tinto. Sip three different kinds of reds, and learn about the aging requirements of the Tempranillo Crianza, Reserva, and Gran Reserva Riojas.
Finally, taste a special red wine to finish. Be surprised by a wine selected by the sommelier specifically for your class, likely a single-plot wine made following organic viticulture or coming from over 100-year-old vines.

The best way to get to the wine bar in Bilbao is by walking. Put in Google maps: Plaza de la Salve, 6 and take a beautiful walk along the river. The bar is located in front of the famous La Salve red bridge with impressive views over the Guggenheim museum.

This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
