Discover the hidden chapters of African legacy, resistance, and culture woven into the very streets of Madrid.
"Echoes of Africa" is an immersive cultural and historical journey through Spain’s capital — designed especially for Black travelers, educators, institutions, and cultural organizations seeking meaningful engagement with Afro-European history.
While Spain’s Black history may often be hidden in plain sight, this experience brings it to the forefront — through guided storytelling, powerful visuals, community spaces, and deep conversations.
The trace of this "business" can still be seen in numerous places in the Spanish capital, where enslaved people influenced the configuration of the city as we know it, past and present. Spain was the penultimate territory of the Atlantic World to abandon slavery definitively.
This tour is the reaffirmation of the black presence in the Iberian Peninsula centuries before Christopher Columbus.
