Phoenix Zoo Visitor Experience – Discover Wildlife in the Heart of the Arizona Desert

Located in the scenic Papago Park area of Phoenix, Arizona, the Phoenix Zoo is one of the largest privately owned, non-profit zoos in the United States. Spanning more than 125 acres, the zoo is home to over 3,000 animals representing nearly 400 species from around the world. A visit to Phoenix Zoo offers guests an immersive and educational wildlife experience, blending conservation, entertainment, and nature in a uniquely desert setting.

A World-Class Zoo Experience

Phoenix Zoo is designed to provide visitors with naturalistic habitats that closely resemble the animals’ native environments. Guests can explore beautifully landscaped trails surrounded by desert flora, shaded walkways, and scenic mountain views, creating a relaxing yet adventurous atmosphere suitable for all ages.

The zoo is divided into several themed trails, each offering a distinct experience:

Arizona Trail showcases native wildlife such as mountain lions, Mexican gray wolves, bald eagles, and desert tortoises, highlighting the rich biodiversity of the American Southwest.

Africa Trail allows visitors to encounter iconic animals like giraffes, lions, zebras, rhinos, and meerkats in expansive open habitats inspired by African landscapes.

Tropics Trail immerses guests in lush rainforest environments featuring monkeys, tropical birds, jaguars, and reptiles from Central and South America.

Children’s Trail is a family-friendly area where younger visitors can interact with domestic animals, enjoy hands-on learning exhibits, and participate in engaging activities.
