This northern lights hike allows you to see auroras in Abisko National Park and gives you an exciting opportunity to learn how to build a fire using locally sourced birch wood.
Now that Autumn is here, the sky is getting darker and the auroras are lighting up the sky. Autumn is a beautiful time in Abisko, with what our team calls “high and clear” air. The local scenery is very beautiful and the trees glow with Autumn colour. There is usually a fresh coating of powder snow on the mountain peaks and at night we get to see the northern lights.
Our team of guides are excited to share their local knowledge with you and to show you all the things that make the Autumn so incredible in Abisko!
The tour starts from one of the best hotels in the area: the Abisko Mountain Lodge. We walk along the old trails - some of which have been used for countless centuries by the local people in the area. Our goal is to hike to a place with a beautiful view over the area and the lake “Torneträsk”, which is the biggest Arctic lake in Scandinavia. When we get to the location, our guide will make a fire and show you how easy it is to do so once you learn a few of the old secrets Afterwords, we will all sit around the crackling fire and wait for the auroras. During the tour you will be served a warm drink and a light snack. The tour will be around 2,5-3 hours long. We provide hiking poles if needed. We offer complimentary pickup from STF Mountain station. We don't offer any clothing for this tour so you will need to bring warm clothing and waterproof shoes with a good grip.

When should I book?
To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.
Cancellations
This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
