Spend a day in a Chagga village learning about their culture and history and visit a coffee farm and waterfall.Spend the night in a historic hotel.Spend 2nd day doing your choice of activity or tour.
Visit the Chagga village of Marangu, the last village before ascending Kilimanjaro. The Chagga are the third largest tribe in Tanzania and call Kilimanjaro home. You will begin your experience by learning the local coffee process. Then after drinking your fresh cup of kahawa, you will trek to the Chagga Museum and learn how the Chagga used to live. You will then enter caves built by the Chagga nearly two hundred years ago to protect themselves from attacks by the Maasai. While in the village you will also meet a blacksmith who will teach you how the Chagga make iron tools using local machines. After learning about Chagga culture and history, you will stop by Ngangu hills for a view of Kilimanjaro. Then you will take a short hike to Ndoro Waterfalls. After the waterfalls, we will return to the village for a local Chagga lunch before heading to the Marangu gate of Kilimanjaro and learning the history of the mountain.
You will then spend the night in a historic hotel where Jimmy Carter stayed when he visited Kilimanjaro with his family after his presidency.
On the second day you will have the choice of doing the following activities or tours:
Day Hike on Kilimanjaro to Mandara Huts
Kayak and Nature Walk at Lake Duluti
Kayak and Nature Walk to Kenyan Border at Lake Chala
Visit a Maasai Boma
Visit Materuni Waterfalls, Chemka Hot Springs, and Kikuletwa Waterfalls

This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
