Description
Embark on a 4-day safari from Arusha to Lake Manyara, Serengeti, and Ngorongoro Crater. Spot elephants, lions, and more in their natural habitats.
Day 1: Arusha – Lake Manyara
Begin your safari adventure with a scenic drive from Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park, a hidden gem nestled at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Upon arrival, embark on an exciting game drive through the park's diverse ecosystems, ranging from lush groundwater forests to open savannahs and the alkaline lake itself.
Keep an eye out for elephants, giraffes, hippos, and the park’s famous tree-climbing lions, as well as a variety of birdlife, including thousands of pink flamingos. After a day of wildlife viewing, head to Marera Lodge, located near Karatu, where you’ll enjoy a comfortable overnight stay in a serene setting with beautiful views and warm hospitality.
Day 2: Lake Manyara – Serengeti National Park
After an early breakfast, continue through the scenic highlands and into the heart of Serengeti National Park, one of Africa’s most iconic safari destinations. As you enter the vast plains, a game drive introduces you to the park’s abundant wildlife, including lions, cheetahs, elephants, and, depending on the season, herds of migrating wildebeest and zebras.
The endless savannah landscapes dotted with acacia trees create a picture-perfect backdrop for incredible photo opportunities and unforgettable wildlife encounters. In the evening, settle into the Serengeti Heritage Tented Camp, where you'll enjoy a night under canvas with the sounds of the wild all around, combining rustic charm with modern comfort.
Day 3: Serengeti – Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Start your day with a morning game drive in the Serengeti, making the most of the early hours when wildlife is most active. This is a great opportunity to spot predators on the hunt and witness the raw beauty of the plains in the soft morning light. After the drive, journey southeast toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, passing through the vast Serengeti landscapes and the rich cultural areas of the highlands.
In the late afternoon, arrive at the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, one of the world’s largest intact volcanic calderas. Your overnight stay will be at Rhino Lodge, offering cozy accommodations nestled in the forest just a short distance from the crater rim—perfect for an early start the next day.
Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater Tour – Return to Arusha
On your final day, descend into the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater for a full-day game drive in this unique and wildlife-rich ecosystem. The crater floor is home to an incredible concentration of animals, including the Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo along with hippos, flamingos, and vast herds of grazing herbivores.
Enjoy a picnic lunch surrounded by stunning crater scenery before beginning your journey back to Arusha in the afternoon, where your unforgettable Tanzania Express Safari concludes.
