Description

Discover the rich history and spirituality of Thailand in Ayutthaya on a private day trip. Visit the Ayutthaya Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and explore the ancient temples.
Experience a remarkable one-day private tour exploring the rich history and spirituality of Thailand in Ayutthaya, the former capital from the 14th to the 18th century.
Start your tour with pickup from your hotel in inner Bangkok or at the pickup locations. Travel by private car for two passengers or for families with children aged 3 to 5 years. A van will be available for groups of three to six individuals. The journey will proceed along the northern route to Ayutthaya Province, taking approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your hotel location.
Ayutthaya is a pivotal destination for exploration, renowned for its historic sites registered by UNESCO and numerous temples.
The tour begins at Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon, an ancient temple where you can admire the tallest pagoda in Ayutthaya, the Victory Monument dedicated to King Naresuan the Great, celebrated for his victory over the Burmese army in the elephant duel at Suphanburi Province. The temple features several historic sites, including a reclining Buddha statue, the ordination hall, the King Naresuan the Great Shrine, and remnants from the fall of Ayutthaya in 1767.
Next, visit Wat Phananchoeng, an ancient temple. Here, encounter the remarkable Buddha statue known as "Luang Pho To," which is the largest Buddha image in Ayutthaya. This statue, constructed in the late U Thong art style, measures 14.20 meters in width and 19.20 meters in height, housed in the Royal Vihara Hall, a pavilion-style building featuring a gable roof and three levels. Inside, the hall contains niches for 84,000 Buddha images in various postures. Also, have the opportunity to explore the ordination hall, which enshrines three significant Buddha images: one from the Ayutthaya period, a bronze Sukhothai Buddha image in bright gold, and another Sukhothai Buddha image in reddish hues. Wat Phananchoeng is also notable for its exquisite Chinese architecture, particularly at the Wihan Chian, where beautiful murals depicting various floral motifs can be seen. See the view of the Pasak River at the back of the temple provides a glimpse of local life, including boats passing by and visitors praying at the Shrine of Mae Soi Dok Mak, a popular spot for those seeking blessings in love. Break time for a traditional Thai lunch then proceed to the Ayutthaya Historical Park for the whole afternoon. The Ayutthaya Historical Park, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991, showcases evidence of a rich cultural civilization that has either persisted or vanished over time. Marvel at the famous three Sri Lankan-style pagodas at Wat Phra Si Sanphet, which remain impressive upon each visit; this site served as the prototype for Wat Phra Kaew in the Grand Palace. Additionally, visit the stunning Wihara Phra Mongkhon Bophit, an old temple restored within the city walls, which houses a principal Buddha image that has been beautifully restored after sustaining damage during the fall of Ayutthaya. Walking around before travel back to Bangkok.
