Description
Spend half a day in Tunis: wander and shop the covered souks of the UNESCO-listed Medina, then discover Sidi Bou Said, the blue-and-white village perched above the Gulf of Tunis.
Escape for half a day between the buzz of the souks and the calm of a clifftop artists' village.
You begin in the Medina of Tunis, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Its maze of covered alleyways is lined with craft workshops and stalls selling copper, leather, fabrics and spices. This is the moment to browse, bargain and pick up something to take home, right in the heart of the old city.
You then travel on to Sidi Bou Said, perched on its cliff above the sea. Nicknamed the Saint-Tropez of Tunisia, the village is famous for its whitewashed houses with bright blue doors and shutters, its cobbled lanes and its terraces looking out over the Mediterranean. You have free time to soak up the atmosphere before returning to your hotel.
