Duration: 3 days

Description

Embark on a 3-day gorilla trekking safari in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Spend an hour with a gorilla family, enjoy scenic views, and visit the Batwa pygmy community.
Begin your adventure with a pickup from your hotel or the airport in Entebbe or Kampala. Set off on a scenic drive to southwestern Uganda, stopping at the Equator for photos, coffee, and optional craft shopping. Continue through rolling hills, banana plantations, cattle ranches, and forest reserves. Enjoy lunch in Mbarara or Kabale town before entering the highlands, famously called “the Switzerland of Africa.” Descend into Bwindi’s thick rainforest, home to half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. Arrive at your lodge in the late afternoon or early evening, where you’ll have dinner and relax in preparation for the next day’s trek.

On the second day, have an early breakfast before transferring to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing. Rangers will explain safety rules, the trekking process, and allocate tourist groups to gorilla families. Enter the forest with guides and porters (porters are optional but recommended). The trek can take 2–6 hours depending on the gorillas’ movement. When you locate the gorilla family, spend one full hour with them, watching juveniles play, mothers feed, and the silverback protect the group. After your hour is done, trek back to the starting point for your certificates. In the afternoon, choose to visit the Batwa pygmy community for cultural music and storytelling, take a nature walk around the lodge, or relax with views of the rainforest. Enjoy dinner and overnight at your lodge.

On the final day, after breakfast, check out and start your journey back. Enjoy the scenic views one last time as you pass through the highlands and valleys. Stop for lunch along the way and continue toward Kampala or Entebbe. End your tour with a drop-off at your hotel or the airport.
