Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary Day Trip

Take a boat cruise on Lake Victoria to Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary. Learn about the history of the sanctuary and its residents, and see the chimpanzees being fed from a raised platform.
Take a boat cruise out on Lake Victoria to Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary and have a chance to view chimpanzees feeding. Be treated to sights of monitor lizards, birds, and photographic opportunities. Choose from half- and full-day trips, and board a boat at 9:00 AM or 12:45 PM.

Upon arrival at the sanctuary, be directed to the visitor’s center where you will be introduced to the project, its history, the residents, and their plight. On each of the two types of day visits (half day and full day), receive a personal orientation by a chimpanzee caregiver and view a feeding of the chimpanzees (full day visitors will view 2 feedings) from the visitors’ raised platform area along the edge of the sanctuary fence.

During your visit, experience chimpanzee viewing and feeding, shopping at the island gift shop, bird watching, and other wildlife encounters. Swim on the equator, visit a neighboring fishing village, or simply sunbathe and relax.

Get your hands dirty by being part of the feeding team. Feed the chimpanzees from the platform. Watch as the chimps excitedly try and gain your attention to receive food (this activity is subject to management exclusion and policies).

To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.

This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
