Description
Discover the Isle of Skye on a day trip from Inverness. Walk the Fairy Pools, explore Dunvegan Castle, and visit Portree. Enjoy scenic views and photo stops along the way.
Begin your Highland journey with a refreshing walk at Rogie Falls, followed by sweeping panoramic vistas over Loch Carron. Cross the iconic Skye Bridge to reach the mythical Isle of Skye, pausing for a coffee break in a quaint village along the way.
One of the day’s highlights awaits at the Fairy Pools – a magical series of crystal-clear waterfalls set against the dramatic backdrop of the Cuillin Mountains. Follow the scenic river path and watch for local wildlife… or perhaps a sheep that’s ready for its close-up.
Next, make your way to historic Dunvegan Castle (optional), the ancestral seat of the MacLeod clan for more than eight centuries. Whether you explore the lavish interiors or admire the grounds, you’ll encounter centuries-old treasures, including the legendary Fairy Flag – a relic steeped in myth and mystery.
After lunch in Dunvegan, enjoy free time in the charming harbour town of Portree before heading to Sligachan Bridge for spectacular views of the Black Cuillin range. The return journey takes in more Scottish icons, with photo stops at Eilean Donan Castle and Urquhart Castle on the shores of Loch Ness, arriving back in Inverness by late evening.
