Description

Embark on a guided walking tour of Boston's most haunted locations, each steeped in rich history and chilling tales. Uncover the secrets of Boston's Christmas origins that you won't find in any tour!
Step into the snow-dusted streets of Boston in December, where the twinkling glow of holiday lights casts long shadows over centuries of secrets. Our Christmas Ghost Tour, offered only throughout December, invites you on a one-hour journey through the city’s most chilling winter legends—stories where Yuletide cheer collides with Boston’s darker, long-buried past. Guided by expert local storytellers, you’ll wander through the crisp winter night and uncover how Boston’s earliest Christmas traditions were shaped not only by celebration but by superstition, bans on holiday merriment, and eerie encounters that still echo through its historic lanes. This is Christmas Boston as you’ve never seen it: festive, mysterious, and hauntingly alive with the spirits of winters long gone.

Your path winds through some of Boston’s most iconic and haunted landmarks, each wrapped in its own unsettling holiday tale. Stand before the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, where Christmas services once unfolded under the watchful eyes of spirits said to linger in the flicker of candlelight. At the Boston Athenaeum, discover chilling accounts of restless readers and vanished figures who appear only during the holiday season, when stories of the past seem to come alive between the stacks. Then, explore the grim folklore behind Boston’s Christmas executions, when winter gallows cast literal and metaphorical shadows over the city, leaving behind a legacy of unsettled souls. As you move toward the Old South Meeting House, you’ll hear how one of Boston’s most historic gathering places becomes a hot spot for ghostly murmurs and inexplicable sounds during the darkest nights of December. And these are only the beginning—each stop reveals another thread in Boston’s web of chilling holiday mysteries.

As carolers fill the air and wreaths adorn centuries-old doorways, you’ll uncover the darker side of Boston’s Christmas spirit, a side steeped in rebellion, tragedy, apparitions, and spectral returns. Through vivid storytelling, the city’s haunted holiday history comes alive, offering a perfect seasonal experience for families spending the holidays together, December travelers exploring Boston, and locals eager to rediscover their hometown through a magical, eerie lens. Wear warm clothes, bundle up tight, and slip into your comfiest shoes—this spirited Christmas walk promises enchantment, mystery, and a haunting glimpse into the city’s festive yet ghost-touched past. Join us as we wander through Boston’s Christmas shadows before the season fades and the spirits of winter retreat once more.
