Category:
Country: United States
Duration:
03:00 hours
Description
Feel the power of the dogs as you mush through the Alaskan wilderness on a tag sled. Learn how to use the brake and lean in the turns on sometimes tricky trails.
Mush on a tag sled, a sled attached to the rear of the main sled in dog mushing. Practice steering and staying upright without having the responsibility to control the dog team. Take a couple of hours with Alaskan Huskies from a race kennel in a dog yard.
With Iditarod and Yukon Quest mushers or outdoor guides, set off on a tag sled that allows two people on it. Switch places between you and your partner halfway if there are more people than you.
Take some pictures with you and the dogs. Enjoy the solitude of Alaska and experience the connection with the dogs. Learn how to use the brake and how to lean in the turns on sometimes tricky trails. Feel the dog power.
Secure the sled and help break down the speed of the dog team when it is going downhill. The tour starts at 10:00 AM in the dog yard with a presentation and ends around 1:00 PM with a warm beverage and cookies in a cozy cabin/yurt
Get a great insight into the art of mushing and maybe even get the taste for longer trips on your own sled with your own team with the skills you already learned.
