Bodega Santa Rosa, one of the oldest wineries in Uruguay, was founded in 1898 by Juan Bautista Passadore and is currently managed by the fourth and fifth generation of the family.
Bodega Santa Rosa, one of the oldest wineries in Uruguay, was founded in 1898 by Juan Bautista Passadore and today remains a family legacy, managed by the fourth and fifth generation. The winery houses the largest subway cellar in South America, where the sparkling wine Fond de Cave is produced, and also the largest barrel cellar in the country, consisting of 27 imposing barrels of 16,000 liters, imported from Slovakia in 1940 for the production of fine wines.
Visitors can live a unique experience touring the process of sherry, wine and sparkling wine production. Tastings and lunches are held in the cellar of the historic Bodega San Javier, founded in 1820 and today integrated to Bodega Santa Rosa, adding even more history and character to the visit.
