Description
For all you lone / single travellers! Let's take a walk around Cambridge! We'll see the beautiful sights. I'm also here for you, to keep you company, to listen to your story.
My name is David. I speak English, French, and German. I'm an experienced guide and a good listener.
We'll explore the historic city centre together. It's full of history, romantic and dastardly stories, and it's very beautiful. It will inspire you!
It's all walkable, and it's gorgeous. You'll be amazed.
While we walk, or sit down in a cafe (you choose), we'll talk. If you want a standard tour, see below. Otherwise, if you want to discuss anything personal, or general, consider me as a friendly and discreet companion. There's no set script: this is your time.
If you opt for the tour, we'll walk through the historic City Centre and the Backs, seeing gorgeous landmarks.
YOU'LL HEAR
- how Cambridge University began as a bunch of religious schools more than 800 years ago, because of a bloody riot in Oxford
- how it has taught and hosted countless famous people who changed the world
- how a religious scholar scribbling atop a tower here ended up shaking the whole of Europe
- The dismal reason why our two greatest colleges are bitter rivals
YOU'LL SEE:
- the FRONT QUAD of a historic college (if open on the day)
- signs of a ghost story in an ancient pub, where the discovery of DNA was announced
- the RAF bar and the most famous bridge in China (really!)
- a small 19th century lab that was once the world's greatest science centre
- stunning LANDMARKS
- charming BRIDGES with romantic or funny histories
Whether you mainly want to chat, or mainly want to tour, I'll make sure you ENJOY your experience, and leave feeling that it was well worth your time. This is my greatest priority. You'll remember this tour, because it was made just for you.
