Discover Villa Traful and Villa La Angostura, exploring unique landscapes, the natural amphitheater, forests, and lakes on an unforgettable excursion along Route 40.
During this tour, we will visit Villa Traful, located on the shores of the homonymous lake, and then Villa La Angostura.

The journey begins in Bariloche on Route 40, crossing the Ñireco Stream, the Nirihuau River, and the westernmost part of Lake Nahuel Huapi, as well as the Limay River, which marks the border between the provinces of Río Negro and Neuquén.

We will travel through the Newbery Pampas until we reach Rincón Chico. Following the Limay River towards Rincón Grande, we come to the Natural Amphitheater, whose shape is reminiscent of a large Roman circus.

The route continues towards the Encantado Valley. A few kilometers away, we reach La Confluencia, where the Traful and Limay Rivers meet. After passing through beautiful coihue forests, we will follow the Traful River and, 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) before reaching the town of the same name, we will arrive at the Traful Lookout, which offers a breathtaking panorama.

After visiting the town, we will head towards Puerto Arrayán and then to El Portezuelo, where the route connects with Route 234, also known as the Seven Lakes Route.

Following this scenic route and passing through dense forests, we will pass Lake Espejo and arrive in Villa La Angostura, where we will have free time for lunch and to explore the town center.

Afterward, we will visit the port of Villa La Angostura, Mansa Bay and Brava Bay, and the iconic La Residencia and El Mesidor mansions. The return journey takes us along Route 231, passing through Puerto Manzano and skirting the Huemul arm of Lake Nahuel Huapi, before taking a road that winds through several elevations across the Huemul Peninsula, finally joining Route 237 to return to Bariloche.
