Discover one of the most stunning volcanic landscapes in the Galápagos Islands with this experience to the Sulphur Mines on Isabela Island, a unique place where geothermal activity has created breathtaking natural formations and bright yellow sulfur deposits.
Your adventure begins in Puerto Villamil, where you will start your transfer to the higher part of the island. During the tour, you will be able to observe the contrasts of the volcanic landscape that characterizes Isabela, the largest island in the archipelago.
Upon arriving at the starting point, you will begin a guided hike to the Sulfur Mines, an area where active fumaroles release volcanic gases that have created an extraordinary natural environment. As you progress along the trail, you will discover fields of solidified lava, unique volcanic formations, and sweeping views of the landscape surrounding this geological area.
Your naturalist guide will share with you information about the volcanic formation of the Galapagos Islands, the geothermal activity on Isabela Island, and the importance of these ecosystems within the Galapagos National Park.

INFORMATION IMPORTANTE
It is recommended to wear trekking shoes or comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, a sun hat, and to bring plenty of water. During the tour, due to the geothermal activity in the area, you may occasionally notice a smell of sulfur.
The hike takes place on volcanic terrain, so a moderate level of fitness is recommended to fully enjoy the experience.
The meeting point is at the main entrance of the Gran Hostal Tintorera, in Puerto Villamil. The tour bus will leave from this location. Please arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled time to start the activity on time. Our staff or guide will be waiting to greet you.
