Hallstatt Skywalk (Viewing Platform): Free (with a catch)

Access to the viewing platform above Hallstatt itself is not charged. If you hike up the mountain on foot, the entire experience is completely free. However, most tourists choose to take the funicular (Salzbergbahn), which is paid (a round-trip ticket for an adult costs over €20).

Schloss Ort (Ort Castle in Gmunden): Free / Paid

Walking across the beautiful wooden bridge, accessing the island, and viewing the castle from the outside are all free. You can take great photos this way. But if you want to go directly into the inner rooms and the courtyard with the exhibition, there is a small maintenance fee (around €5 per adult).

Melk Abbey: Paid

To get into the stunning interiors, such as the famous abbey library, the marble hall, the abbey church, and the terrace with the view, you must pay full admission. Adults pay around €15–€16 (you can also pay extra for a guided tour).

Bone House (Charnel House in Hallstatt): Paid

Entry to the small St. Michael's Chapel, which houses the famous collection of hundreds of painted skulls, is subject to a fee. However, it is just a nominal entrance fee (usually €2 to €3 per adult). The surrounding historical cemetery with its beautiful view is accessible for free.
