You will have the opportunity to climb the highest peak of the Armenian Highlands, Mount Ararat (5,137 m), and admire the beautiful and breathtaking views from its summit.
Day 1: Yerevan – Akhalkalaki – Georgia–Turkey Border – Bayazet
Our journey begins with a scenic road trip through Armenia, Georgia, and into Turkey. Our first stop will be Ani, the legendary “city of a thousand and one churches.” After exploring Ani on foot, we will continue toward Bayazet, where hikers will enjoy an overnight stay in a comfortable, high-quality hotel.
Day 2: Ararat Base Camp (3,300 m)
In the morning, we will drive by bus and then switch to jeeps to reach 2,200 m, the starting point of our hike. From here, a 4–5 hour trek will take us to the first base camp at 3,300 m. Overnight stay in tents at base camp.
Day 3: Acclimatization – Base Camp (4,200 m)
Today, the group will ascend to the second base camp at 4,200 m. The hike provides important acclimatization before the summit push. Upon arrival, hikers will rest and prepare for the climb to the peak. Overnight in tents at the second base camp.
Day 4: Summit Day – Mount Ararat (5,137 m)
At around 2:00–3:00 am, we will begin our ascent to the summit. Upon reaching the top of Mount Ararat, we will celebrate our success and capture unforgettable photos with breathtaking views from the highest peak of the Armenian Highlands. Afterwards, we will descend first to the 4,200 m camp, then further down to the 3,300 m camp, where we will spend the night.
Day 5: Return to Bayazet
After breakfast, hikers will descend from base camp and be transferred back to Bayazet. The afternoon is reserved for rest, and in the evening we will gather for a celebratory dinner. Overnight in Bayazet.
Day 6: Bayazet – Lake Van – Berkri Waterfall – Akhtamar Island
In the morning, we will travel to Van. On the way, we will stop at the beautiful Berkri Waterfall. Our sightseeing continues with the famous Armenian Church of the Holy Cross on Akhtamar Island. Later, we will explore the ancient Tushpa Fortress (Van Castle, 9th century BC), where the mausoleums of Urartian kings Sarduri and Argishti, as well as cuneiform inscriptions, are preserved. The day concludes with a visit to the mysterious rock gate known as Mher’s Door or “The Gates of God.” Overnight in Bayazet.
Day 7: Kars – Ani – Yerevan
After breakfast, we will head to Kars to see the 12th-century Castle of Kars and the 10th-century Cathedral of the Holy Apostles. Later, we return to Yerevan.
Additional Notes
* During the ascent, hikers’ equipment and luggage will be transported by horses.
* Depending on weather conditions, one extra overnight stay on the mountain may be required. This is included at no extra cost.
* Transportation throughout the program will be by bus, except for the jeep section on Day 2.
