Begin your day with a classic Cantonese dim sum brunch, a perfect introduction to Guangzhou’s tea-house culture and a chance to start your day like a Cantonese local.

Next, head to Renwei Ancestral Temple in the city center, a cultural landmark with over 800 years of history. Explore its traditional architecture and cultural relics before continuing to the Xiguan residences, where you can experience the charm of Lingnan culture and learn about Guangzhou’s rich local heritage.

Afterward, discover Guangzhou’s modern city axis at a relaxed pace. Visit Canton Tower, Huacheng Square, Guangdong Museum (an ideal indoor cultural stop), the exterior of the Guangzhou Opera House, and the 2010 Asian Games venue at Haixinsha Park, and pose for photos by a professional photographer near Guangzhou’s two tallest skyscrapers. This area becomes even more spectacular as the lights come on at dusk.

Continue to Shamian Island, a former British and French concession.
