Day 1: Arrival in Paro & Scenic Transfer to Thimphu

Day 2: Thimphu Cultural Highlights & Drive to Punakha via Dochula Pass

Visit the National Memorial Chorten to observe local elders circumambulating the white stupa in warm woolens. Drive toward Punakha across Dochula Pass (3,140m). Winter offers the clearest views of the year—witness a sweeping 360-degree panoramic vista of the snow-capped Himalayan range standing tall behind the 108 Druk Wangyel Chortens. Enjoy warm butter tea at the pass.

Descend into the sub-tropical, milder valley of Punakha. Explore Punakha Dzong (The Palace of Great Happiness), majestic at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. Take a gentle sunset walk across the Punakha Suspension Bridge, draped in vibrant prayer flags fluttering against the winter breeze.

Day 3: Valley Walk & Scenic Return to Paro

Take a gentle morning walk across terraced fields to Chimi Lhakhang, learning about local valley traditions amidst quiet winter landscapes. Drive back to Paro, stopping along high valley viewpoints for mountain photos and winter landscape compositions.

Arrive in Paro. Visit the historic Rinpung Dzong and stroll across the wooden covered bridge (Nyamai Zam). In the evening, unwind with an optional traditional Bhutanese Hot Stone Bath (Dotsho)—the perfect winter remedy infused with river stones and medicinal herbs.

Day 4: Paro Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) Winter Hike & Departure

Embark on an early morning winter hike to Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest). Winter morning light pouring through the pine canopy provides optimal photography conditions and pleasant trekking temperatures. Descend the trail and enjoy a warm local lunch. Depending on your flight or overland departure schedule, transfer to Paro International Airport or continue your onward journey.
