Visit to the Gold Museum in Bogota The Gold Museum, located in the historic center of Bogota, houses the world's largest collection of pre-Hispanic gold and silverware, with approximately 34,000 pieces of gold and tumbaga, and nearly 25,000 objects of ceramics, stone, shell, bone and textiles. These pieces come from 13 indigenous cultures that inhabited what is now Colombia, including the Muiscas, Quimbayas, Zenúes, Tayronas, Calima, Tumaco, Tolima, Tierradentro, San Agustín, Nariño, Chocó, Urabá and Malagana.

Exhibits Highlights
The visit to the museum is organized in four thematic floors:

Second floor: features the ""Metalworking"" room, which describes the mining and manufacturing techniques of ancient metallurgy, and the ""People and Gold in Pre-Hispanic Colombia"" room, which contextualizes the use of gold in the political and religious organization of indigenous cultures.

Third floor: Includes the "Cosmology and Symbolism" room, which explores mythical themes, shamanism and the symbolism of metals, and the "Offering" room, which immerses visitors in the world of offering ceremonies.

Fourth floor: Offers an interactive room that promotes reflection on the diversity and significance of the heritage preserved by the museum.

✨ Iconic Pieces.
Poporo Quimbaya: A ceremonial piece used by the Quimbaya for the ritual consumption of coca leaves. Made around 301 BC, it is considered one of the greatest achievements of Colombian pre-Hispanic art.

Balsa Musica: Represents the ritual that gave rise to the legend of El Dorado. It shows the Zipa covered in gold dust, sailing on a raft on the Guatavita lagoon, accompanied by his people.
