विवरण
Explore Bogotá's La Candelaria neighborhood on a guided food tour. Taste delicious local dishes, sip authentic local tea, and learn about the city's history and culture from your local guide.
Bogotá rises high in the Andes, on a savanna the Muisca people farmed for centuries before the Spanish ever arrived. This tour walks you through La Candelaria, the oldest part of the city, and tells its whole story through what you eat along the way.
You begin in a working market hall that has fed this neighbourhood for almost a hundred years, with a breva con arequipe, a fig cooked down in syrup with milk caramel and a little salty cheese, followed by a tasting of Colombian fruits most travellers have never encountered before. From there your local guide leads you through cobbled streets and quiet plazas, one bite at a time: a tamal tolimense steamed slowly in a banana leaf the way it has been made for generations, a taste of chicha, the fermented corn drink this city once tried to outlaw, and a griddled arepa fresh off the pan. You sip on some authentic local tea and finally hear the real story behind local products, then settle into a full bowl of ajiaco, the potato soup every Bogotano grew up loving.
Along the way, your guide fills in everything a map leaves out: the plaza where the city was founded in 1538, the Indigenous history beneath the colonial streets, and the towering murals painted across whole buildings, and the fight it took to make them legal. Somewhere in the middle of it all, you'll be handed a secret dessert dish, one we only reveal once it's in your hands, a local favourite that somehow pulls the whole city together in a single bite.
The tour finishes at a working barista school, where Colombian coffee is brewed in front of you and you'll hear how this country learned to keep its very best beans for itself. Small groups, a guide who lives and breathes this neighbourhood, and a walk through five centuries of history, one plate at a time.
