Puerto Plata: city tour of the historic old town & relaxing on the beach

With its long history, Puerto Plata is best explored and experienced on foot. After the 4-hour walking tour of the old town, you can relax and unwind on the beach after lunch.
The walking tour starts at the Macorix Museum House of Rum. Here you will discover everything about the production and history of the country's most important export product, including a tasting of course. Along one of the oldest streets in the city, Cale 30 Marzo and Cale Imbert, we reach "La Chocolateria". You will learn all about the cultivation and production of Dominican chocolate, including snacking, of course. The most famous highlights of the city are just around the corner: the completely pink "Paseo Dona Blanca" and the street of umbrellas. Once the photos have been taken, you can buy small souvenirs or gifts at Island Treasures. Now you have reached the city center: Independance Park with the town hall and San Felipe Cathedral are popular destinations for locals, especially at weekends. We recommend simply taking in the city life with a typical Dominican ice cream. From here, the path leads to the renowned Monsenor cigar factory, where a short tour of the cigar-rolling process provides an insight into an important tradition. Directly afterwards, a small pedestrian zone awaits our visit. Along the largest street, the "Malecon" waterfront promenade, we continue via the popular photo spot "Puerto Plata" to one of the city's most historic squares: the Fortelaza San Felipe. From the fortress that once protected the city, the route leads us back to the waterfront promenade and the fire station. This has some bizarre and unbelievable stories in store. We continue to the Polanco for lunch. Choose between fish, meat or vegetarian - everything is freshly prepared. Strengthened, we continue to Playa Acapulco, where the Caribbean bathtub awaits you. Relax on the beach with cool drinks (included) as the tour draws to a close. The last optional stop is the mega supermarket La Sirena. Here you can stock up on everything from suntan lotion to shampoo and toothpaste at reasonable prices.
