Amazon Adventure: Papallacta and the Jungle

Day 1: Papallacta and Arrival in the Amazon
Begin your journey with a morning departure from Quito, heading southeast towards the Amazon. Stop at the stunning Papallacta Lagoon, surrounded by mountains and lush vegetation. Relax in the natural hot springs, known for their warm, revitalizing waters.

Continue your journey to the Amazon region, where you’ll be welcomed with a lunch prepared with fresh, local ingredients. After lunch, enjoy free time to relax at the lodge, take in the natural beauty, and unwind.

In the evening, savor a dinner featuring regional flavors. Later, embark on a brief night walk through the jungle, offering a thrilling opportunity to experience the Amazon’s nocturnal life. Finally, rest at the lodge, preparing for the next day’s adventures.

Day 2: Amazon Jungle Exploration
Start your day with a delicious breakfast before heading to Puerto Ahuano. Board a boat to the “Amazoonico” Animal Rescue Center, where you’ll see various animal species, including anacondas, parrots, macaws, caimans, tapirs, peccaries, spider monkeys, howler monkeys, and more.

Next, visit the Caiman Island and Lagoon, where you’ll witness a presentation by the Kichwa community about their traditional clothing and the preparation of yuca chicha. Learn to use the blowgun, a local hunting tool. Continue with a short walk to the Caiman Lagoon, where you’ll have the chance to feed caimans from a safe point under the supervision of a local guide.

Proceed to the Arajuno River, where you’ll take a boat to a nearby community (5 minutes) and enjoy a typical lunch featuring local cuisine. Finally, return to the lodge for dinner and a free evening for nighttime entertainment and accommodation.

Day 3: Relaxation and Return to Quito
After breakfast, enjoy free time to relax at the lodge, swim in the pool, or simply read a book in a serene setting. Immerse yourself in the surrounding natural beauty and disconnect from the daily hustle. Then, have lunch (not included) at the lodge’s restaurant, where you can savor regional cuisine.

After lunch, begin your return journey to Quito, with the opportunity to enjoy panoramic views along the way.
