Quito: Food Tour in quaint old town with tastings and lunch

First, explore Mercado Central where you will taste a delicious drink made of corn, milk and sweet spices, and enjoy tasting different tropical fruits. After experiencing the market, we proceed to the popular and histori Plaza Grande where you will pass by and learn about an amazing Cathedral, the Presidential Palace, the Archbishop's residence, and you will also taste a unique type of ice cream made in a copper pot, the famous "helado de paila".

After, visit a monastery from 1877 where you will discover the best-kept secrets of the "Agustinas Nuns" (yes, a monastery for nuns!) and taste a delicious, special recipe biscuit made by them. Then head to an Ecuadorian restaurant where you will taste authentic empanadas and a traditional cinammon hot drink called "canelazo", an Ecuadorian favorite. Quito natives love to have this drink during certain festivities!

Finally, learn about the importance of lunch in Latin America as the main meal of the day by ending the tour with a traditional Ecuadorian three course set menu!

The meeting point for the food tour is the entrance/exit to the San Francisco Metro Station located in the heart of the old town. The food tour will end at the restaurant Runa Tulpa Andina also in the old town.

What you will need to bring for the tour: sunscreen, a hat, water, a light jacket and an appetite to taste new things!
