As you walk through the beautifully preserved Bhaktapur Durbar Square, you’ll see stunning temples, pagoda roofs, carved wooden windows, and old brick courtyards built in the unique Newar architectural style. After exploring Bhaktapur, you’ll return toward Kathmandu for a memorable lunch, a traditional Nepali restaurant set in a restored Rana-era mansion. The building itself is over 150 years old and full of charm, with warm lighting, carved woodwork, and a peaceful courtyard. Here, you’ll enjoy a full-course Nepali meal served on traditional brass plates. The dishes include local favorites made with seasonal ingredients-dal (lentils), bhat (rice), tarkari (vegetables), pickles, and more. Each bite reflects Nepal’s cultural and culinary diversity. Dining here is a cultural experience in itself, surrounded by heritage and hospitality.

To end the day, you’ll visit the city of Patan, known for its rich artistic traditions. Here, you’ll take part in a unique folk music experience featuring the sarangi, a traditional four-stringed instrument played by the Gandharva community of Nepal. The sarangi is known for its soulful sound that closely resembles the human voice. During the one-hour session, a local musician will perform live music, explain the history of the sarangi, and share how this music has been used to tell stories, carry messages, and preserve oral history across generations. You’ll have the chance to listen up close, ask questions, and even try the instrument if you wish.
