ITINERARY DAY 01: Journey through cloud forests and charming hiking trails Your guide will pick you up at the agreed meeting point at 05:30 am We will then embark on a journey along winding Andean roads, passing through picturesque hamlets and villages until we reach Ajanaco, the gateway to the jungle at 3,500 meters above sea level. As we descend along the winding roads into the cloud forest, we will be surrounded by lush vegetation, including orchids, heliconias and ferns. Keep an eye out for the vibrant fauna that inhabits this region, such as the cock-of-the-rock, the umbrella bird, the trogon, the quetzal or the oriole. Finally, we will arrive at our lodge, where you can relax and rejuvenate after an exciting day of exploration. Meals included: Breakfast en route, lunch in the cloud forest and dinner at the lodge. DAY 02: Discover Atalaya – Exploring the Mystical Machuwasi Lagoon and Fascinating Night Walks After breakfast, we will embark on a short hike to observe a variety of birds and monkeys in their natural habitat. Next, we will take a one-hour bus ride to the port of Atalaya, where we will board a boat for a 30-minute ride to our lodge. Along the way, you can choose to take a refreshing dip in the river or enjoy a rejuvenating mud bath. After lunch, we will visit the captivating Machuwasi Lagoon and raft where we may encounter shanshos, monkeys, reptiles, dwarf caimans, capybaras, tapirs and other fascinating creatures. After dinner, we will embark on an exciting night excursion to continue exploring the natural wonders of the region. We will spend the night in our comfortable lodge, surrounded by the beauty of the Amazon. DAY 03: Parrot Clay Lick, Enriching Walks, Atalaya Exploration and Return Trip to Cusco As the sun rises, we will embark on a captivating trip to the parrot clay lick, where we will witness the magnificent spectacle of these vibrant birds feasting on the nutrient-rich wall. After a delicious breakfast, we will return to Atalaya by boat, before boarding the van to begin the journey back to Cusco. Along the way, we will encounter enchanting sights such as hummingbirds, orchids, waterfalls and possibly other bird species or even monkeys. Leaving the verdant jungle behind, we will cross the impressive Andean peaks, culminating with our arrival in Cusco between 17:00 and 19:00. Meals include breakfast at the lodge and lunch in the middle of the cloud forest.
