Venturing on the Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu, we will traverse some of the most awe-inspiring terrains the Andes have to offer. As we journey through Salkantay Trekking routes.
The 5 Day Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu begins with an early pickup in Cusco and a drive to Mollepata for breakfast, followed by a transfer to Challacancha where the trek starts. The first day includes a hike to Soraypampa to stay in luxurious Skydomes, a hike to the turquoise Humantay Lake, and an evening under the stars.
Day 2 involves an early start, a hike to the challenging Salkantay Pass with views of Andean peaks, and a descent to Chaullay for the night.
The third day is easier, passing through the Santa Teresa Valley, and includes optional hot springs before another night in a Skydome.
On day 4, hikers pass through part of the Original Inca Trail, visit the Llactapata Inca site with views of Machu Picchu, and either hike or take a train to Aguas Calientes for a hotel stay.
The final day includes a bus ride to Machu Picchu for a guided tour, with options for additional hikes, and concludes with a train to Ollantaytambo and a transfer back to Cusco.
