Brasov: Sightseeing Tour of the Medieval Historic Center

On this sightseeing tour, you'll discover Brașov, one of the most thriving and beautiful cities in central Romania. You'll stroll through the streets, visit unique landmarks, and hear fascinating commentary.
We'll start at the County Library and head towards the promenade that runs along the old medieval walls by the Spurcata River and the Carpathian Mountains.

We'll go up to the Black Tower, from where we'll have a stunning view of the medieval historic center and Mount Tâmpa, also part of the Carpathian Mountains and where the city's name is written in large letters.

We'll then head to Catherine's Gate, named after the mistress of Vlad Dracul, also known as Dracula. This is the only entrance gate to the medieval city that has survived to the present day, and it features the city's coat of arms carved in stone. We'll share its history and then continue to the Schei Gate, through which we'll enter the historic center.

We'll pass by the Synagogue and The Rope Street, the street of the rope-makers' guild, one of the narrowest streets in Europe.

We'll arrive at the Black Church, the largest Gothic-style religious landmark in all of Southeast Europe, and from there we'll head to Council Square, the city center of Brasov.

The square, with its colorful houses that belonged to the Saxon settlers who built the city, hosts the Orthodox Cathedral and Czell Palace.

We'll continue along Strada Republicii, Brașov's main pedestrian and shopping street, until we reach the city's Central Park.

Here you'll find the Town Hall, the Palace of Justice, the Post Office Palace, and the Ethnographic Museum, and this is where we'll end the sightseeing tour after having explored the entire medieval Old Town.
