Meet your guide at the Abisko Mountain Lodge and travel by snowshoe through peaceful winter landscapes to reach a remote reindeer enclosure away from the main tourist routes.

Meet a Sami reindeer herder who will introduce you to the traditions of reindeer husbandry and explain how the relationship between the Sami people and their animals has shaped life in the Arctic for generations.

Feed the reindeer, observe their behavior up close, and ask questions about Sami culture and everyday life. After spending time with the herd, gather inside a traditional Sami lavvu around an open fire.

Enjoy hot drinks and snacks while stories and knowledge are shared in an authentic and relaxed atmosphere. The winter months occasionally offer a chance to see the Northern Lights on the way back, depending on weather and conditions.


Please note: During October and November, if there isn't enough snow, the hike will take place without snowshoes, we will let you know in advance and offer a full refund in case you dont want to join without snowshoes.
