Interlaken: Boat Trip to Giessbach Falls & hike to Iseltwald

Set off on a scenic journey across Lake Brienz, to the Giessbach Falls. Ride the historic funicular to the iconic Grandhotel Giessbach, then immerse yourself in nature with a hike back to Iseltwald.
Our journey begins in our meeting point at Interlaken Ost, where we catch a boat and cruise across the stunning turquoise waters of Lake Brienz. As we sail, we take in the breathtaking mountain scenery, charming lakeside villages, and the peaceful atmosphere of the lake.

We arrive at Giessbach, where the powerful Giessbach Falls cascade down the mountainside in a spectacular display. We ride the historic Giessbach funicular, one of Switzerland’s oldest, up to the elegant Grandhotel Giessbach. From here, we admire panoramic views of the lake, walk behind the roaring waterfall, and soak in the timeless charm of this Belle Époque landmark.

Next, we set off on a scenic hike along a peaceful forest trail that follows the shores of Lake Brienz. Along the way, we find stunning viewpoints where the deep blue waters contrast beautifully with the surrounding green hills.

Our adventure ends in Iseltwald, a charming lakeside village known for its traditional wooden chalets and its role in Crash Landing on You, the Korean series. We’ll stop at the famous pier, snap some great photos, and enjoy the lively yet peaceful atmosphere of this Swiss gem. After all, pictures, along with the memories we’ve made, are the best souvenirs to take home!

From here, you can either wait for the boat back to Interlaken Ost or take a bus for a quicker return.
