Visit Datoga and Hadzabe Villages in Lake Eyasi. Learn about their culture and ways of life.
Journey to Lake Eyasi from Arusha to visit the remote villages of the Datoga and the Hadzabe. You will begin by visiting the Datoga who are expert blacksmiths and farmers. At the village you will learn about Datoga culture and lifestyle. They will demonstrate how they do metalwork over an open fire. Then you will enter their home and see how they prepare maize into flour.
Then you will go to a Hadzabe village. The Hadzabe are a hunter-gatherer tribe that speak in a unique click language. There you will learn about their culture and lifestyle. They will teach you how to make a fire using their acacia wood tools. Then you will learn to shoot a bow and arrow during the tribe's target practice. We will then make our way to see the Hadzabe homes. There they will perform a traditional dance.
We will have lunch after the Hadzabe activities or in between, depending on your preference. After leaving the Hadzabe village, we will go to a viewpoint of Lake Eyasi before returning to Arusha.
