5-Day Midrange Safari, West Serengeti During Migration

In the Central, Western Serengeti you will see the enormous herds of the Great Wildebeest Migration making crossings of the Grumeti River in May & June, which is an excellent reason to visit Serengeti
Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Depart from Arusha in the early hours of the day and drive to Tarangire National Park. See colossal termite mounds and ancient baobab trees. This park is renowned for its immense elephant population, picturesque scenery, and diverse bird life.
Tarangire has enticing wildlife that includes elephants, lions, giraffes, warthogs, ostriches, impalas, cheetahs, mongoose, buffaloes, and baboons. When your game drive comes to an end, proceed to Lake Manyara Serena Hotel for dinner and overnight where you will witness the glorious sunset.

Day 2: Karatu to Western Serengeti
Have a relaxed breakfast and depart for game drives with a packed lunch or depart early in the morning on an early morning game drive. Later return to accommodation for breakfast and depart to Western Serengeti with a packed lunch.
Explore the central portion of the Serengeti National Park today and move towards the western part of the park. During May and June, wildebeest herds are spread around the western corridor of Serengeti (consisting of Grumeti, and Kirariwa regions).

A picnic lunch will be done during the day-long drive itself. Based on the time of your arrival, spend a few hours by the Grumeti River. The eventful day comes to an end with a heavy dinner and a good night’s rest in your accommodation at Lahia Tented Lodge.

Day 3: Western Serengeti
Early morning after breakfast at your accommodation, proceed on a game drive on the western Serengeti following the great migration. Spend the full day on the western Serengeti for game viewing and if you’re lucky enough you can spot the crossing at the Grumeti River as well as crocodiles hunting their prey during the crossing.
Watch the wildebeest surging through the torrential flow, some drowning, and a few falling prey to lurking crocodiles. During the full-day game drive, have a stop where you can have your picnic lunch. The day comes to an end with a tasty dinner and a good rest in your accommodation at Lahia Tented Lodge.

Day 4: Western Serengeti to Central Serengeti
This entire day is set aside for game drives exploring the Western Serengeti Migration. In the afternoon, drive to Central Serengeti.
The animals’ trek is determined by the rainfall and varies from year to year. In December, the animals move from the northern region dominated by woodlands and hills, to the grassy plains of the south. Stay overnight at Serengeti Serena Hotel on a full-board basis.

Day 5: Serengeti National Park to Arusha
Indulge in a leisurely breakfast before embarking on a morning game drive en route to Arusha or Seronera airstrip for your flight back to Arusha. As your safari adventure concludes, cherish the memories of the extraordinary landscapes, and diverse wildlife. Alternatively, continue to your booked hotel for an overnight stay at Arusha.
