From Kitzbühel: Private Salzburg Old Town Day Trip

Begin your day with a convenient pickup from your hotel in Kitzbühel, Kirchberg, Reith, Aurach, Jochberg, or St. Johann in Tirol. Travel in a private air-conditioned car or minivan and enjoy a scenic drive through the Tyrolean Alps and the Saalach Valley, passing the Loferer Steinberge mountains on your way to Salzburg.

Stop at Hellbrunn Palace and Park for a 45-minute walk through the park to the famous Sound of Music gazebo. From April to early November, you can also visit the playful trick fountains (ticket not included).

Next, drive to the city center and visit Mirabell Gardens. Spend 30 minutes exploring the flower beds, Pegasus Fountain, and the Do-Re-Mi steps, and admire the view of Hohensalzburg Fortress.

Continue with a guided walk through Salzburg's Old Town. Spend 1.5 hours exploring Getreidegasse with its wrought-iron shop signs, Mozart's Birthplace, Salzburg Cathedral, and Residenzplatz. Learn about Mozart and the prince-archbishops as you explore the UNESCO World Heritage Old Town.

Enjoy 2 hours of free time in the Old Town. Have lunch in a traditional Austrian restaurant or coffee house, take an optional funicular to Hohensalzburg Fortress (ticket not included), or go shopping. Your guide will recommend the best places.

Finally, relax on the drive back to your hotel.

From late November to the end of December, the old town hosts the famous Christkindlmarkt on Cathedral and Residenz squares, a perfect winter day away from the ski slopes. Because the trip is private, timing is flexible.
