Spend a full day exploring the Atherton Tablelands with a Japanese-speaking guide. Search for wild platypus, feed rock wallabies, and sample local coffee and mango wine.
Discover the natural highlights of the Atherton Tablelands on this full-day tour from Cairns, led by a veteran Japanese-speaking guide. After hotel pickup around 8:00 AM, your first stop is Lake Barrine, where you can relax at a lakeside cafe surrounded by rainforest scenery (food and drinks at your own expense).
Next, search for wild platypus in their natural habitat — sightings cannot be guaranteed, as they depend on the animals' activity that day. You will then visit the Curtain Fig Tree, an enormous fig estimated to be over 500 years old, viewed from a boardwalk.
At Granite Gorge, feed rock wallabies by hand, see a giant ant hill, and enjoy a photo opportunity with a snake or lizard (subject to animal condition and availability). Afterwards, stop at Coffee Works to sample locally grown coffee and chocolate, with time for souvenir shopping (purchases at your own expense).
The final stop is a mango winery, where you can taste mango wine (tastings for guests 18 and over only) and browse local products before being dropped back at your hotel around 4:00 PM. Drone photography is available on request, conditions permitting.
