Despite its name, “Sidonggou” does not refer to four caves. The scenic area follows a stream valley connecting four waterfalls, each with its own shape and character. Shaded walking trails make this one of Chishui’s more relaxing destinations for travelers who want to enjoy waterfalls and nature at a comfortable pace.
Begin with Shuiliandong Waterfall, where a natural passage allows visitors to experience the waterfall from a different perspective. Walk close to the flowing water and enjoy the refreshing mist surrounded by dense greenery.
Continue to Moon Pool Waterfall, a gentler cascade flowing into a clear pool. Its curved shape, calm water, and forest setting create one of the most peaceful scenes along the route.
Further into the valley, discover Feiwaya Waterfall, surrounded by thick bamboo forest and flowing streams. This section is particularly atmospheric for a quiet walk through Chishui’s subtropical landscape.
The final highlight is Bailongtan Waterfall, the largest and most dramatic of the four. Water plunges from the forested cliffs into the valley below, creating powerful spray during periods of higher water flow. On sunny days, mist around the waterfall may occasionally create a rainbow.
Along the route, discover bamboo groves, streams, Danxia rock formations, ancient tree ferns, and historic features such as the Zheng Family Stone Archway.
The scenic area is particularly enjoyable during the warmer and wetter months, when the waterfalls carry more water and the surrounding vegetation is at its greenest.
Most visitors spend approximately 2.5–3 hours exploring the main route, while travelers who prefer photography, playing by the water, or a slower walk can allow around 4 hours.
