1. Hotel Pickup & Welcome
Your day begins with pickup from your hotel in Jaffna. Meet your local guide and travel to your first destination to discover the region's traditional crafts and way of life.
2. Conch-Shell Jewellery Making
Visit a local family home and participate in a hands-on conch-shell jewellery-making experience. Learn how small shells are transformed into necklaces, bracelets or bangles, and create your own handmade souvenir to take home.
3. Traditional Toddy Tour
Continue to a paddy field area and meet a local toddy tapper. Learn about traditional toddy collection from palmyra palms and discover the importance of this practice in the livelihoods and cultural heritage of Northern Sri Lanka.
4. Traditional Palmyra Handicraft Making
Visit a local village home and meet a craftswoman who creates traditional products from palmyra leaves. Discover how these natural materials are prepared and woven into useful items. Try the craft yourself and take home the item you make.
5. KKS Beach & Swimming
Continue to Kankesanthurai (KKS) Beach to enjoy the coastal scenery, relax by the sea and swim if weather and sea conditions permit. After your daytime activities, return to your hotel for a break, a shower and time to prepare for the evening programme.
6. Traditional Tamil Dress Experience
In the evening, experience traditional Tamil attire by wearing a vetti for men or a saree for women. Learn about the cultural significance of these garments before continuing to Nallur Temple.
7. Evening Visit to Nallur Kandaswamy Temple
Visit the historic Nallur Kandaswamy Temple with your local guide. Discover its cultural significance, architecture and religious traditions. You may also participate in a customary offering of flowers and fruit, following temple customs and guidance from your host.
