Discover the story of the Siege of Sarajevo and the fall of Yugoslavia with a local guide. Visit the Tunnel of Hope, Sniper Alley, Trebević Bobsleigh and locations that shaped Sarajevo during the war.
Go beyond the headlines and discover one of the most important periods in Sarajevo's modern history.
On this 4-hour guided tour, learn how Yugoslavia collapsed, why the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina began, and how Sarajevo survived one of the longest sieges in modern history.
Start at the Yellow Fortress, where panoramic views help explain how Sarajevo's geography shaped the siege. Hear how residents lived for years with limited water, electricity, food and basic supplies.
Continue through key locations connected to the war, including memorial sites, the former Olympic complex and Sniper Alley, one of the city's most dangerous routes during the siege. See the former Holiday Inn, which housed international journalists reporting from Sarajevo.
Visit the Tunnel of Hope Museum, one of the most important sites of the tour. Learn how this tunnel became Sarajevo's vital connection with the outside world, transporting people, food, medicine and supplies beneath the airport. Watch original wartime footage and walk through a preserved section of the tunnel.
Continue toward Trebević Mountain, crossing the entity line while learning about the Dayton Peace Agreement, the end of the war and Bosnia and Herzegovina today.
On Trebević, visit the famous 1984 Olympic Bobsleigh Track. Once a symbol of Sarajevo's Olympic success, the area later became part of the frontline during the siege.
Throughout the experience, your local guide combines historical context with stories of everyday life, survival and resilience.
Discover not only what happened to Sarajevo, but what it was like for the people who lived through it.
