Begin your day at Lake Bled, one of Slovenia’s most recognizable natural attractions. Surrounded by the Julian Alps, the lake is famous for its emerald-green waters, picturesque island, and medieval castle perched high above the shore. Take a traditional Pletna boat to Bled Island, climb the 99 stone steps to the church and ring the wishing bell, or enjoy a relaxed walk along the lakeshore while taking in the spectacular Alpine scenery. A visit to Bled Castle offers another perspective of the lake and its famous island.

From Bled, continue to Vintgar Gorge, one of the most impressive natural features near the town. A wooden walkway follows the Radovna River through a narrow gorge surrounded by steep cliffs, emerald pools, and rushing rapids. The trail leads to Šum Waterfall, a 13-meter cascade and one of the highlights of the gorge.

The journey then takes you deeper into the Julian Alps, away from the better-known sights around Bled. Follow the road towards the spectacular Vrata Valley, where the mountains rise dramatically towards Mount Triglav, Slovenia’s highest peak. Here you will discover Peričnik Waterfall, one of the country’s most distinctive waterfalls. The powerful lower waterfall drops 52 meters over a rocky cliff, while its most remarkable feature is the path that allows you to walk behind the waterfall itself. A smaller 16-meter upper waterfall can also be found nearby.

Continue to Kranjska Gora, Slovenia’s best-known Alpine resort, surrounded by the peaks of the Julian Alps. This charming mountain town combines traditional Alpine character with a lively outdoor atmosphere and serves as a gateway to some of the region’s most spectacular landscapes.

Just outside Kranjska Gora lies Lake Jasna, a beautifully situated mountain lake where the surrounding peaks are reflected in its clear waters. Take a peaceful walk along the shore, breathe in the fresh Alpine air, and enjoy the quieter side of the Julian Alps.
