Tour the underground winery of Vives Ambròs, a family-run winery in Montferri that has been producing cava since 1991, and taste 6 cavas and 6 wines from its collection.
You'll arrive at Vives Ambròs, a family-run winery in Montferri (Alt Camp, Tarragona) that has been producing cava and wine since 1991 with grapes from its 30 hectares of own vineyards, which are organically farmed and hand-harvested.
The tour starts in the winery where the wines are made and continues in the original underground cellars. You'll tour the aging rooms, where the cavas age in stacks, and see the traditional method of disgorging by hand. This part lasts about 45 minutes.
You will then move on to the tasting room to try 12 wines from the collection: 6 cavas (Ancestral, Reserva and Gran Reserva) and 6 wines (4 whites from unique varieties and 2 aged reds). The tasting lasts about 45 minutes, and it's the perfect time to ask any questions you may have about the winemaking process.
At the end, if you wish, you can buy the wines and cava you have tasted in the winery shop.
Montferri is about 20 minutes by car from Tarragona, next to the Modernist shrine of the Mare de Déu de Montserrat, designed by Josep Maria Jujol. There is free parking next to the winery.

The shop is wheelchair accessible, but the underground winery is not.

Entrance to the winery, at Carrer Major 39 in Montferri. On the façade, you'll see the sign "Cava Vives Ambròs". There is free parking next door.
