Spend a full private day on the South Coast with your own driver-guide: waterfalls, a glacier and a black sand beach, then hunt for the northern lights on the way back.
Spend a full private day on Iceland's South Coast with your own local driver-guide and no one else on board, then look for the northern lights on the drive back to Reykjavik. Groups of 1-3 travel in a sedan, groups of up to 8 in a van.

Your guide meets you at your Reykjavik accommodation with a VAREN name tablet. You walk behind Seljalandsfoss when the path is open, stand at the foot of Skogafoss, walk to the edge of the Solheimajokull glacier and see the basalt columns and sea stacks at Reynisfjara black sand beach. In Vik you have time for a late lunch before the return drive. Water is available on request.

After dark your guide follows the cloud and aurora forecasts and stops where the sky is clearest to look for the northern lights on the way back. The day lasts about 12 hours, and the order of stops may change with weather or road conditions. The northern lights hunt is part of the return drive: a sighting cannot be guaranteed and there is no retry or refund if the lights do not appear.

Even a faint but visible aurora counts as a sighting.
At Solheimajokull you walk to the glacier edge, not onto the ice, so no glacier guide or equipment is needed.
Reynisfjara has dangerous sneaker waves. Stay well back from the water and never turn your back to the sea.
Bring warm, windproof and waterproof clothes, a hat, gloves and waterproof shoes with good grip. If we have to cancel because of weather or road closures, you choose a new date or a full refund. A new date may run in a different vehicle.
