Most Komodo trips bring you back to the harbor where you started. This one doesn't. You board a wooden phinisi in Labuan Bajo and keep heading west, through Komodo National Park and along the coast of Sumbawa, until you step ashore in Lombok.

EXPLORATION You wake before dawn to hike Padar, where three curved bays lie below you in three colors of sand. Then Pink Beach, a ranger walk to find dragons on Komodo, and Manta Point. What comes next depends on your boat class. Saleh Bay, only on Luxury and Luxury Plus options, is one of the few places on earth where you can swim beside whale sharks at dawn.
